Origin story
I wrote Team Holly & Jolly because, truthfully, I am a cheep cheep mama. I wanted to participate in the fun of the elf tradition, but I refused to pay the high price tag that usually comes with it.
I love the magic of Christmas. I love the joy I feel at my Little Awesomes’ wonder and amazement. But while I loved the idea of the elves, I struggled with the pressure. And I know I am not alone.
The “don’t touch” rules, the midnight panic to create elaborate scenes, the fear of ruining the magic if I fell asleep early… it felt like a chore, not a joy.
I wanted an Elf tradition that served us, not the other way around. One that allowed for messy hands, late arrivals, and imperfect moments.
So, this is your permission slip. Let them touch the elf. Let the elf be lazy. Let the magic be gentle. Here’s to a season of connection over perfection.
